Kanawha County man admits to obstructing mail

Brice Allen Pomeroy, a 26-year-old resident of Hernshaw, has admitted guilt in a case of mail obstruction. The incident took place on May 11, 2023, when Pomeroy discarded approximately 227 pieces of mail by placing them in a trash can outside a gas service station in Charleston. At that time, he was working as a mail handler for a vendor associated with the United States Postal Service at their facility in Charleston.

Pomeroy is due to be sentenced on April 24, 2025. He could face up to six months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of $5,000. Additionally, he is required to pay $2,051.21 in restitution.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson who praised the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for their investigative efforts.

United States District Judge Irene C. Berger oversaw the proceedings with Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan T. Storage handling the prosecution.
