Sacramento man receives 14-year sentence for meth trafficking

Anthony Coates, a 29-year-old resident of Sacramento, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for methamphetamine distribution. The sentencing was carried out by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez, as announced by U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

Court documents reveal that Coates sold one pound of methamphetamine in March 2024 and three pounds in April 2024 to an undercover agent. Additionally, he distributed methamphetamine and counterfeit Xanax and Adderall pills on various occasions throughout 2023 and 2024.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, with support from the Central Valley High-Intensity Drug-Trafficking Area Task Force and the Citrus Heights Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Haddy Abouzeid led the prosecution.
