The Department of Defense has announced a new package of security assistance for Ukraine, valued at approximately $500 million. This decision is part of the Biden Administration's ongoing efforts to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

The package includes missiles for air defense, air-to-ground munitions, and equipment to support Ukraine's use of F-16 fighter jets. Specifically, the aid will consist of AIM-7, RIM-7, and AIM-9M missiles, armored bridging systems, secure communications equipment, small arms and ammunition, as well as spare parts and training services.

This marks the seventy-fourth instance since August 2021 that the Biden Administration has provided military equipment from Department of Defense inventories to Ukraine. The United States is collaborating with around 50 allies and partners in these efforts. Secretary Austin will convene a meeting tomorrow with members of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and its associated Capability Coalitions to further discuss support strategies for Ukraine.

"Today, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced additional security assistance support to meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs," stated a release from the DoD. The aim is "to put Ukraine in the best possible position" by addressing its most urgent requirements.
