U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg | U.S. Department of Justice

United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg has announced an indictment against Pete Supan, a 35-year-old resident of Bradenton, Florida. Supan is charged with coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and the production of child sex abuse material. If found guilty on all charges, he could face a life sentence in federal prison.

The indictment alleges that Supan coerced and enticed a minor to participate in sexual activities. Additionally, it claims he persuaded the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for creating visual depictions.

It is important to note that an indictment serves as a formal charge indicating that a defendant has potentially violated federal criminal law. However, every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation alongside the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry will prosecute the case.

This legal action is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources from federal, state, and local levels to find and prosecute individuals who exploit children and to rescue victims.
