Zavian I. Kizer, a 23-year-old resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been sentenced to 180 months in prison by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady. This follows his guilty plea for distributing and possessing with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, as announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
In addition to the prison term, Kizer will also serve five years of supervised release. The case documents reveal that between 2020 and 2022, Kizer acquired fentanyl pills in Arizona for distribution in the Northern District of Indiana. He recruited individuals to transport these pills to Indiana and subsequently send the proceeds back to Arizona.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Fort Wayne Safe Streets Gang Task Force. This task force includes the Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and Fort Wayne Police Department, with support from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s North Central Laboratory and police departments in Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona. The Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office also assisted in this case.
Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony W. Geller and Lesley J. Miller Lowery prosecuted the case as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF aims to identify and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative approach involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
