Congressman John Moolenaar Chairman of the Select Committee on the CCP | Official Website
This week, the Department of Defense (DoD) has blacklisted numerous Chinese companies operating in the United States that are part of China's military framework. Over the past two years, investigations, reports, and legislation by the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party have highlighted more than 70% of these companies now listed by the DoD.
Select Committee Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) discussed this development on Fox Business, emphasizing its significance for U.S. national security. Moolenaar stated: "I applaud this new listing – we should not be allowing these Chinese defense-related companies to partner with our companies, and we certainly shouldn't be using taxpayer dollars to fund countries that could be, as an adversary, working against our own military. And so, this is long overdue, but it's a step in the right direction. It highlights areas of key technology, whether it's drones or semiconductors. We shouldn't be allowing our infrastructure, especially our military infrastructure, to be dependent on the Chinese Communist Party."
The blacklist includes companies spotlighted in various reports and legislative actions over recent years. These include Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd., Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Limited (COMAC), China Communications Construction Group (Limited), Beijing Zhidao Chuangyu Information Technology Co., Ltd., 360 Security Technology Inc., China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited (CASIC), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), SenseTime Group Inc., China North Industries Group Corporation Limited (Norinco Group), China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. (China Unicom), Dawning Information Industry Co., Ltd. (Sugon), China Electronics Corporation (CEC), China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), Shanghai Yitu Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Yitu), CRRC Corporation Limited, Huawei Investment & Holding Co., Ltd., Inspur Group Co., Ltd., Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd., Autel Robotics Co., Ltd., China Telecom Group Co., Ltd. (China Telecom), China SpaceSat Co., Ltd. (China SpaceSat), ChangXin Memory Technologies Inc. (CXMT), Origincell Technology Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co., Ltd. (Dahua), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited.
Additionally listed are entities like China National Chemical Corporation Ltd. (ChemChina), Aerospace CH UAV Co., Ltd. (CH UAV), China Construction Technology Co., Ltd. (CCTC), China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), CloudWalk Technology Co., Ltd. (CloudWalk), Yangtze Memory Technologies Co., Ltd. (YMTC), and others from sectors such as aviation and nuclear power.
These actions underscore ongoing concerns about national security implications tied to foreign entities linked to China's military operations.
