The Heritage Foundation has expressed its support for Steve Bradbury following his nomination as Deputy Secretary at the Department of Transportation (DOT) in President-elect Donald Trump's administration. Bradbury joined Heritage in 2022 after serving as the Senate-confirmed general counsel of the DOT from November 2017 to January 2021. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing rulemaking and enforcement actions within the department and also served as Acting Deputy Secretary and briefly as Acting Secretary of Transportation.
At The Heritage Foundation, Bradbury focused on legal issues, transportation policy, electric vehicle policy, and reforming law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Dr. Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, praised Bradbury's nomination: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Steve Bradbury on his nomination to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transportation. Steve is a dedicated public servant, an incisive mind on policy and legal matters, and a loyal colleague and friend. His leadership will help restore America to a world leader in transportation and innovation after the past four years of mismanagement of America’s infrastructure."
Roberts further stated that Bradbury's previous experience at DOT makes him well-suited for this role under Secretary-Designate Sean Duffy: “Steve’s previous tenure at the DOT in multiple roles makes him the perfect candidate to help lead the department under Secretary-Designate Sean Duffy. At a time when agencies like the DOT have been hijacked for a political climate agenda, leaders like Steve will help get the department back to its original mandate: serving the American people.”
Derrick Morgan, executive vice president of The Heritage Foundation, also commended Bradbury's qualifications: “Steve Bradbury’s experience in transportation and public policy leadership make him an excellent choice to help lead the Department of Transportation. He will serve President Trump and the American people with professional excellence he is known for at Heritage, and he will ensure that the agency supports President Trump’s mandate for change. Though he will be missed at Heritage, we are thrilled for Steve and we know his nomination will improve transportation for millions of Americans.”
