Huntington man admits guilt in fentanyl distribution case

Devontay Brian Johnson, a 29-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to the charge of distributing fentanyl. The plea was entered in court today.

Court documents reveal that on August 3, 2022, Johnson sold around 20 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant. The transaction took place in a vehicle parked along Wilson Place in Huntington.

Johnson is set to be sentenced on May 5, 2025. He could face up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a fine amounting to $1 million.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson. He praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for their investigative efforts.

The hearing was overseen by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin is responsible for prosecuting the case.
