A federal jury in Corpus Christi has found a local man guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. The verdict was reached after just 17 minutes of deliberation following a one-day trial.

The case against Michael Pulido, 30, began on February 7, 2024, when authorities responded to a criminal mischief complaint at a local apartment complex. During the investigation, it was discovered that Pulido had fired four gunshots inside his apartment. Further checks revealed he had been previously convicted of a felony, which under federal law prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Despite attempts by the defense to argue that the firearm belonged to someone else, the jury found Pulido guilty as charged.

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos presided over the trial and scheduled sentencing for April 15. Pulido could face up to five years in federal prison and a potential fine of $250,000.

The investigation was carried out by the Corpus Christi Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Yasmine Tucker and Ashley Martin.
