Charles Page, a former police lieutenant, and his son Treyvon Ladonte Page have been sentenced to prison for drug trafficking crimes. Charles received a 48-month sentence, while Treyvon was sentenced to 120 months. The offenses took place in 2021 and 2022 when Charles was an officer with the Ayden Police Department.
"This police lieutenant, a 13-year veteran of the force, used his official position to access confidential databases and share intelligence to advance his son’s drug trafficking," stated U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr. "We won’t tolerate public officials breaching the public’s trust to help criminals, whether they are family or not."
The investigation began in July 2021 after law enforcement received information about Treyvon's distribution of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana in Pitt County. Authorities conducted controlled purchases from Treyvon between November 2021 and August 2022 involving various drugs.
Surveillance revealed that Treyvon frequently visited a residence in Grifton linked to his father during these transactions. In September 2022, law enforcement executed search warrants across Pitt County. At Charles's house, they seized methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine base, and three shotguns.
Interviews with cooperating sources indicated that Charles was aware of his son's activities and provided him with confidential law enforcement information. A search of Charles's phone confirmed these allegations.
Charles resigned shortly after the execution of the search warrant. Further investigation showed he queried confidential databases for information related to Treyvon and his associates.
Michael F. Easley Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina announced the sentencing by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the FBI and several local law enforcement departments.
