Niko Hall, a 33-year-old resident of Washington, DC, received a 14-year prison sentence for second-degree murder while armed. The sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget Fitzpatrick and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Hall's conviction is related to the shooting death of Anthony Lee on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in September 2020.

Hall entered a guilty plea on November 11, 2024, before Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt. In addition to his prison term, he will undergo five years of supervised release following his incarceration.

This sentencing marks the conclusion of legal proceedings against all individuals involved in the crime. Co-defendants Kyrie Wells and Darquise Montgomery also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed. Wells received a 14-year sentence on January 3, 2023, while Montgomery was sentenced to 12 years on July 6, 2023.

The incident occurred on September 26, 2020. According to evidence presented by the government, Hall and his co-defendants shot Anthony Lee from behind as he walked along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue with a companion. The attack happened without any prior interaction between the assailants and their victims. Hall initiated and concluded the gunfire amidst busy Saturday night traffic with multiple witnesses present.

Following Mr. Lee's fall after being shot, one co-defendant fired at least thirteen rounds at Mr. Lee’s companion using an assault rifle.

Hall was apprehended nearly a month later on October 20, 2020, and has remained in custody since then.

Acting U.S. Attorney Fitzpatrick and Chief Smith acknowledged the efforts of MPD investigators and those who managed the case within the U.S. Attorney’s Office. They extended thanks to Paralegal Specialists LaShone Samuels and Stephanie Siegerist; Victim/Witness Advocates Latrice Washington-Williams and Jenn Allen; Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica Keefer and Thomas Faulkner; as well as U.S. Attorney Peter V. Roman and Deputy Chief Laura Bach for their roles in investigating and prosecuting this case.
