United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Ricardo Jordan, a 21-year-old resident of St. Tammany Parish, has pled guilty to multiple violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act. The plea was entered on January 16, 2025, before United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier.

Jordan admitted guilt to three counts of distribution of fentanyl and one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. These charges are in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).

For each count, Jordan faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment and could receive up to forty years in prison. Additionally, he may be fined up to $5 million and will be subject to at least four years of supervised release following any prison term. He also faces a $100 mandatory special assessment fee for each count.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 10, 2025.

Court documents reveal that on August 3, August 10, and September 19, 2023, Jordan sold over forty grams of fentanyl to an undercover Louisiana State Police Trooper. On September 28, authorities executed a search warrant at his Covington residence and recovered approximately 101 grams of fentanyl.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations along with the Louisiana State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Briana Williams from the Narcotics Unit is handling the prosecution.
