The automotive industry in India is undergoing significant changes due to increased digital adoption. In response, a new whitepaper and playbook have been launched in collaboration with the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) to assist auto brands and dealerships in adapting to these shifts. The documents highlight how digital tools are influencing consumer preferences and driving growth within the sector.

This partnership has also resulted in the success of the 'Move with Meta' program, initiated in 2023 to enhance digital presence and lead generation for auto dealerships through Meta platforms. Originally targeting 3,000 dealers, the program has surpassed expectations by training over 6,000 additional dealers. Currently, more than 10,000 dealers across India are utilizing digital tools to innovate their business practices.

Saugato Bhowmik from Meta emphasized the program's impact: "Our platforms and products are well positioned to enable rapid and efficient digital customer acquisition and engagement for auto dealers in a hyperlocal manner." He added that nearly 10,000 dealers have been upskilled alongside FADA over two years.

C.S. Vigneshwar from FADA noted the advancements made: "Through our partnership with Meta, we’ve not only exceeded our commitment of upskilling 3,000 dealers—surpassing 6,000—but we’ve also seen a 3X increase in digitization."

Auto manufacturers have reported positive outcomes from this initiative. Virat Khullar from Hyundai Motor India Limited remarked on achieving "a remarkable 37% growth in sales" due to the hyperlocal program. Similarly, Manjari Upadhye from Mahindra and Mahindra Limited highlighted how leveraging technology through Meta apps led to significant booking and sales impacts.

Key insights from an associated study reveal that a large percentage of new automotive buyers discovered brands via Meta apps. Additionally, WhatsApp emerged as a preferred communication tool between buyers and dealerships.

The whitepaper was presented with notable attendees including Mr. H D Kumaraswamy, Union Minister for Heavy Industries & Steel; C.S. Vigneshwar; Saugato Bhowmik; and Sai Giridhar.
