Satellite transition affects AFN customers in Pacific region

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

An upcoming satellite transition will affect some AFN TV programming package users in the Pacific region. This change requires customers in Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania to adjust their satellite dishes and update decoder settings over a 58-day period starting February 2, 2025.

The current satellite is nearing the end of its operational life, prompting its owner to decommission and deorbit it. As a result, impacted customers need to realign their dishes to receive signals from the Horizons 3e satellite and update their decoders. The necessary settings can be found on AFN's website at AFN.mil, which also provides information about the satellite's orbital location and transponder.

Existing equipment used for the four-channel service will remain compatible with the new satellite; re-registration is not required. However, those who do not transition by March 31, 2025, will lose access to AFN services via this method. Digital applications such as AFN Now and AFN Go will not be affected by this change.

AFN helpdesk technicians are available around the clock to assist with technical inquiries related to this transition. They can be contacted at +1 (951) 413-2339 or via email at sathelpdma@mail.mil.
