The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) has expressed approval for the recent allocation of $1 billion towards Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) by the Texas government. The foundation acknowledged Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and both legislative chambers for their roles in this decision.
Greg Sindelar, CEO of TPPF, stated, “It is exciting to see both Lieutenant Governor Patrick and Speaker Burrows in alignment on providing Texans with the biggest Day One school choice program in the nation.” He emphasized that this move sends a positive message to parents and students across Texas.
Mandy Drogin, Director of TPPF’s Next Generation Texas Campaign, highlighted the significance of this appropriation. She noted that it is double the amount allocated in 2023 and ten times larger than any initial school choice program nationwide. Drogin remarked, “This $1 billion appropriation is double what was appropriated in 2023 and 10 times the size of any starting school choice program in the nation. It is a huge first step towards empowering Texas’ over 6 million children and their parents. We are grateful to our state’s leaders for their commitment to parents and students.”
The funding aims to empower parents by enhancing educational choices available to them through ESAs.
