Matthew M. Graves U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia
Robbie Terrell Clark, a 27-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for his involvement in the kidnapping and robbery of a couple in Alexandria, Virginia. The sentence was delivered by U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson following Clark's guilty plea on May 21, 2024, to one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Alongside the prison term, Clark will serve four years of supervised release.
The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. for the District of Columbia and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean Ryan from the Washington Field Office Criminal and Cyber Division.
Court documents reveal that Clark and his accomplices planned their crime meticulously, first planting a GPS device on one victim's car on September 2, 2022. The next day, they ambushed the victims at their apartment building parking garage after returning from a family gathering in Maryland. Armed with guns and wearing masks and gloves, they stole luxury watches valued at $120,000 and other valuables before leading the victims to their apartment.
Inside the residence, the perpetrators continued to threaten the victims but fled when a security alarm was triggered. They escaped using both a stolen Kia and one victim's Mercedes but left behind zip ties used during the attack.
Clark was arrested on August 16, 2023, after an investigation led by the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force with assistance from Fairfax County Police Department identified him as a suspect.
At the time of this incident, Clark had a prior felony conviction for possessing a handgun in Maryland. His co-conspirator Tyree McCombs has also pleaded guilty related to this crime and awaits sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Jones is prosecuting this case for the District of Columbia.
