David Lamont Hicks, a 48-year-old resident of Steubenville, Ohio, has been sentenced to 81 months in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution. The sentencing took place in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Court documents and statements revealed that during a drug investigation, officers searched an apartment on Wheeling Island. Hicks attempted to flee the scene on foot but was subsequently arrested. Investigators discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the location. Hicks has previous convictions for aggravated robbery, drug trafficking, and attempted burglary.
Following his prison term, Hicks will be subject to three years of supervised release.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Nogay on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, which is funded by HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas), along with the Wheeling Police Department.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case.
