Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

Robert Keshian Norwood, a 72-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms after a prior felony conviction. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

Norwood was charged on April 2, 2024, by a federal Grand Jury for being a felon in possession of firearms. According to public records, United States Probation Office officers searched Norwood's apartment on February 1, 2024, under the conditions of his supervised release. This search led to the discovery of ten firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition. Norwood was on supervised release following an earlier federal conviction for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

On July 1, 2024, Norwood pleaded guilty and admitted to possessing the firearms despite his previous felony conviction.

During the sentencing hearing on January 29, 2025, U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton sentenced Norwood to serve six years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Judge Heaton noted Norwood's extensive criminal history while announcing the sentence.

Public records reveal that Norwood's criminal history includes multiple federal felony convictions in the Western District of Oklahoma and several other felony convictions in Oklahoma County District Court. His offenses range from drug-related charges to burglary and robbery.

The investigation leading to this case was conducted by the United States Probation Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary E. Walters.
