Roger B. Handberg, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida
U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington has sentenced Jermaine Jerome Campbell, a 35-year-old resident of Lakeland, to 12 years in federal prison for possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Campbell entered a guilty plea on June 25, 2024.
Court documents reveal that on September 15, 2023, Campbell distributed fentanyl pills from his mother's residence. A subsequent search of Campbell's home on September 21, 2023, led law enforcement to discover bulk quantities of methamphetamine concealed inside a tool bag.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lakeland Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Pardo.
This case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF focuses on identifying, disrupting, and dismantling high-level criminal organizations that pose threats to the United States through a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
