A Dulce man has entered a guilty plea to two counts of assault involving an intimate partner, specifically for acts of strangling and suffocating.

Chalmers Dedios, aged 32 and a member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation Indian Tribe, confessed to the assaults on Jane Doe that occurred in February 2024. Court documents reveal that one incident involved Dedios strangling the victim until she lost consciousness.

The potential consequences for Dedios include a prison sentence of up to ten years, followed by three years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez made this announcement today.

The investigation was conducted by the Jicarilla Apache Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jesse Pecoraro handling the prosecution.
