A federal grand jury in Council Bluffs, Iowa, has indicted two individuals on charges related to child pornography. The indictment was returned on January 29, 2025.
Jason J. Traina, a 52-year-old from Rockland County, New York, faces charges of distributing child pornography. He made his initial court appearance in the Southern District of New York on January 31, 2025. During this hearing, the government argued for his detention pending trial; however, the United States Magistrate Judge released him under conditions of home detention and location monitoring.
Carrie Marie Campbell, aged 40 and from Council Bluffs, is charged with receiving child pornography. She appeared in court in the Southern District of Iowa on February 3, 2025. At this appearance, she was temporarily detained until a forthcoming detention hearing.
Both Traina and Campbell face potential sentences ranging from a mandatory minimum of five years to a maximum of twenty years in prison if convicted.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal from the Southern District of Iowa announced these developments. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Council Bluffs Police Department. Additional assistance comes from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, FBI Safe Streets NY, and the Stony Point Police Department.
It is important to note that an indictment represents only an allegation at this stage; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
