Duane A. Evans, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana
Tieron Price, a 22-year-old from New Orleans, has pled guilty to multiple charges including possession of machineguns and drug trafficking. The plea was entered on February 4, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Darrel J. Papillion.
Court documents reveal that on May 22, 2023, Price was involved in a high-speed chase with Louisiana State Police after driving a stolen vehicle. The chase ended when Price collided with another car at a red light. Price and two others attempted to flee but were apprehended. A fully-automatic Glock Model 17 pistol was found in a backpack carried by one of the passengers.
Price was initially released on bond but was later subject to a search warrant executed by New Orleans Police Department detectives on January 19, 2024. The search uncovered another Glock pistol equipped with an auto-sear and a drum magazine at his residence, along with over $6,000 in cash and 95 tapentadol pills intended for distribution.
For each machinegun possession conviction, Price faces up to ten years in prison and fines up to $250,000. His drug trafficking charge carries a potential sentence of up to twenty years and fines reaching $1 million. Additionally, the firearm possession related to drug trafficking mandates a minimum five-year consecutive sentence.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through community trust-building and strategic law enforcement efforts.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the FBI, ATF, Louisiana State Police, and New Orleans Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney David Berman is prosecuting the case as part of the Violent Crime Unit.
