Thibodaux woman pleads guilty to misprision of felony related to drug trafficking

Duane A. Evans, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Tammy Thompson, a 56-year-old resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana, has pled guilty to misprision of a felony before U.S. District Judge Brandon Long on February 4, 2025. Thompson's sentencing is set for May 13, 2025, where she could face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Court records indicate that law enforcement observed Thompson's son, Earl Henry Jr., purchasing narcotics from Roy Robinson in a parking lot. After the transaction, Robinson placed two bags inside Henry Jr.'s vehicle. Henry Jr. returned to the residence he shared with his mother before being detained by police officers who suspected him of moving the bags into his mother's house.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Thompson’s residence while monitoring it to prevent evidence tampering. Surveillance captured Thompson removing the bags from her home and placing them in a nearby parked vehicle after her son's detention. The subsequent search revealed approximately 7,227 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The case forms part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations through coordinated efforts among various agencies.

Additionally, this case is linked to Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities.

U.S. Attorney Evans commended the efforts of several law enforcement agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration and local police departments involved in this case's investigation and prosecution by Assistant United States Attorney Stuart Theriot.
