Jessica D. Aber, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia

A Honduran national, Eliseo Garcia Gordillo, also known as Julio Antonio Caceres Morales and Julio Caceres-Antonio, has been sentenced to two years in prison for illegally reentering the United States and failing to register as a sex offender. This sentencing was announced in Alexandria, Virginia.

Court documents reveal that Garcia Gordillo, aged 43, had previously been removed from the United States on three occasions due to illegal entry or reentry. In June 2019, he was convicted in Prince William County of two counts of aggravated sexual battery involving a victim under the age of 13. As part of his conviction, Garcia Gordillo was required to register as a sex offender quarterly for life and maintain current registration.

Following his latest unauthorized return to the U.S., Garcia Gordillo was apprehended in Prince William County. He had not kept his sex offender registration up-to-date.

The announcement of the sentencing was made by Erik S. Siebert, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Kai Wah Chan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington, D.C.; and Shannon Saylor, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia. The sentence was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge Claude M. Hilton.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lyndi E. McVey, Katherine Legel-Kasper, and Noah Sissoko.
