A Superior Court jury has found Deangelo Glover, 33, and Ronnie Wallace, 48, guilty of murder and other charges in connection with the January 19, 2021 killing of Tyrone Wright. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Wallace was convicted on several counts including first-degree murder while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence for the murder of Wright. He was also found guilty of assault with intent to kill while armed for shooting another victim, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a pistol without a license.
Glover faced convictions for second-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a pistol without a license. Sentencing is scheduled for May 2, 2025 by Superior Court Judge Jason Park.
The incident occurred in front of 3804 Hayes Street NE at the Mayfair Mansions Apartment complex. According to evidence presented by the government, Wallace shot Wright believing he was involved in his brother Marcus Wallace's murder. During this altercation, an innocent bystander sustained an injury from being shot in the leg. Shortly after Wallace's initial attack, Glover emerged from an adjacent building and fired multiple shots at Wright resulting in his death.
The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrea Coronado and Matthew Covert.
