Jade Larae Duncan, a 27-year-old resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country. The announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The indictment detailed that on December 2, 2022, Duncan unlawfully killed an individual while driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred as she left the roadway and entered a creek bed in Adair County, within the Cherokee Nation Reservation's boundaries in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
This charge is a result of investigations conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Adair County Sheriff’s Department.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Duncan's plea at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick M. Flanigan, Lewis M. Reagan, and T. Cameron McEwen.
