Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson has announced new appointments within the agency's leadership. David Shaw will serve as Principal Deputy Director and Kelse Moen as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition, while Douglas C. Geho takes on the role of Deputy Director for the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
David Shaw brings extensive experience in antitrust law to his new position. His background includes work during the first Trump Administration in various roles within the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, including trial attorney and acting chief of staff. He participated in significant cases such as the first litigated vertical merger challenge in four decades and was involved in major investigations against Big Tech companies.
Kelse Moen, also appointed to a key position, previously served as senior counsel to Senator Lindsey Graham on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Moen has spent nearly ten years practicing antitrust law at international firms, representing clients in government investigations and litigation matters.
Douglas C. Geho joins as Deputy Director for Consumer Protection with a robust background in enforcement and regulatory affairs from his tenure during the Trump Administration at both the Department of Labor and on several congressional committees. Recently, he served as an Attorney Advisor to Commissioner Melissa Holyoak focusing on consumer protection issues.
The Federal Trade Commission aims to foster competition while protecting consumers through education and regulation. It emphasizes that it does not demand money or make threats to consumers, urging individuals to report scams or fraudulent activities online.
