Podcast explores impact of small business on local communities

The Small Business Rundown podcast recently featured Brian Funtleyder, co-founder and owner of Boundless Adventures, who discussed how his small business contributes to the community. Funtleyder emphasized the importance of pro-business policies like the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction, which provide tax savings that facilitate these contributions.

Holly Wade, Executive Director of the NFIB Research Center, shared insights from a recent survey on how such policies enable Main Street business owners to give back. Despite challenges such as uncertainty and complex regulations, small businesses continue to support their communities. "When we started these businesses, the community embraced us with open arms," said Funtleyder. "We feel a sense of obligation that we have to give back."

Wade outlined findings from NFIB’s survey regarding community contributions by small businesses. “We looked to see if their volunteer activities were related to their time in participating personally in volunteer activities and contributions,” Wade explained. According to the survey, cash contributions are prevalent among small businesses, with three out of four contributing to education-related programs and two out of three supporting sports-related activities.

Listeners can tune into the full podcast episode titled “New report: Ways small businesses give back” for more examples of how Funtleyder, his employees, and other small enterprises engage with their communities.
