Roger B. Handberg, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida
A Kissimmee man, Pooran Ramjattan, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity. U.S. District Judge Julie Sneed delivered the sentence following Ramjattan's guilty plea on November 21, 2024.
The case began on May 1, 2024, when an undercover FBI agent posed online as a 13-year-old girl. After contacting the agent's account and learning of the supposed child's age, Ramjattan engaged in sexually explicit conversations and arranged to meet at a location in Orange County. Upon arrival at the meeting spot, he was arrested by law enforcement officers.
This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orlando Police Department. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Kaley Austin-Aronson.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
