Kevin P. Davidson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama
Montgomery, Ala. – Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced that Bobby Wayne Williams, aged 48 and from Ariton, Alabama, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison. The sentence is for being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating the terms of his federal probation. The sentencing took place on February 18, 2025, and includes an additional three years of supervised release following the prison term.
Court records reveal that during the summer of 2024, Williams was under federal supervised release in Dale County after serving a previous 63-month sentence for a federal gun conviction. In June 2024, law enforcement issued an arrest warrant for Williams based on allegations that he pointed a firearm at his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend while threatening them.
On August 14, 2024, officers from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office and a United States Probation Officer visited Williams' home to execute the arrest warrant. During this visit, they found him in possession of a handgun. Due to his prior felony conviction, Williams is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. His actions violated both state law and the conditions of his supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the Dale County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Probation Office with support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Russell T. Duraski handled prosecution duties for this case.
