A St. Louis man, Antonio Dixson, 37, was found guilty on Wednesday of seven charges related to drugs and firearms possession. The jury convicted him of two counts each for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Additionally, he was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a defaced firearm.
The trial revealed that on December 1, 2020, Dixson was stopped in Wentzville, Missouri while riding in a Honda SUV previously pursued by St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers. As he exited the vehicle, a Glock pistol fell from his waist and another revolver was visible from his pocket. Officers discovered ammunition and drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, PCP, and cocaine in his possession.
Following an indictment for this incident, Dixson was arrested again on February 25, 2021. He was apprehended by police driving the wrong way on a one-way street in St. Louis. During this arrest, two guns and drugs were found on him.
Dixson is prohibited from owning firearms due to prior felony convictions. His sentencing is set for June 3 where he faces at least ten years in prison.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Wentzville Police Department, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The case is prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Dunkel and Hal Goldsmith.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. In May 2021, the Department launched an enhanced strategy focusing on building community trust and supporting violence prevention organizations.
