Memphis man receives lengthy sentence for illegal firearm possession and drug offenses

Reagan T. Fondren Acting United States Attorney Western District Of Tennessee | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee

A federal judge has sentenced Andre Blue, a 37-year-old resident of Memphis, to 30 years in federal prison for gun and drug offenses. The announcement was made by Reagan Fondren, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

The case against Blue stemmed from a search conducted on July 13, 2022, by detectives with the Multi-Agency Gang Unit at an apartment where he resided. During the search, authorities found a loaded Glock Inc. .45 caliber pistol, a Sig Sauer Inc. 9mm caliber pistol, and a loaded Smith and Wesson .45 caliber pistol in the primary bedroom. In addition to these firearms, several bags containing various narcotics were discovered in the bathroom toilet bowl, including one bag with 15 grams of pure methamphetamine. An American Tactical Imports Inc. multi-caliber pistol was also located in a child's bedroom closet next to a magazine loaded with at least 50 live rounds. Federal law prohibits Blue from possessing firearms and ammunition due to his prior felony convictions.

Following a three-day trial in November 2024, Blue was found guilty of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. On February 26, 2025, United States District Judge Jon P. McCalla sentenced him to serve 30 years in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release. There is no parole available within the federal system.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites different levels of law enforcement and communities to combat violent crime and gun violence while aiming to make neighborhoods safer. On May 26, 2021, the department introduced an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN focusing on building community trust and legitimacy; supporting organizations that prevent violence; establishing strategic enforcement priorities; and measuring outcomes.

The investigation was carried out by the PSN Gun Task Force along with assistance from the Multi-Agency Gang Unit and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Acting United States Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude towards Assistant United States Attorneys Eileen Kuo and Regina Brittenum who prosecuted this case as well as all law enforcement partners involved in its investigation.
