Jose Salvador Alcaraz-Curiel, a 31-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for being a deported alien found in the United States. This sentence follows an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Alcaraz-Curiel had previously been removed from the country in October 2018 and September 2020.

Matthew Murphy, acting Special Agent in Charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations Seattle, stated: “This conviction underscores the dedication of ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents in safeguarding our nation’s laws.” He emphasized the importance of immigration enforcement in maintaining community safety and security.

After his second removal, Alcaraz-Curiel reentered the United States illegally. ICE officials encountered him again in Canyon County in March 2024. His criminal record includes state misdemeanor and felony convictions in Idaho, as well as a federal conviction in Arizona for similar offenses.

Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott praised ICE's efforts on this case. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis J. Zebari.
