U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will hold a special one-day event for Global Entry applicants at Morristown Airport in New Jersey on March 1. The interviews are available only to conditionally approved applicants who have scheduled appointments, as no walk-ins will be accepted. This initiative is part of CBP's efforts to provide more convenient locations for completing the enrollment process.
The event aims to address the high demand for Global Entry interviews by offering an alternative to the usual Enrollment Centers located at ports of entry. CBP hopes that these collaborative events with local municipalities will help alleviate pressure on Enrollment Centers and foster goodwill within communities.
Global Entry is a Trusted Traveler Program under the Department of Homeland Security, used at various points of entry including major airports. Applicants must complete an in-person interview before enrollment, which involves applying online, paying a fee, undergoing background checks, and attending the interview. Successful applicants benefit from expedited processing upon returning from international travel.
Members also gain access to TSA Pre✓ benefits, allowing faster security screening at domestic airports without removing shoes or laptops. Additionally, CBP plans to introduce a Global Entry Mobile App enabling members to validate their U.S. arrival via mobile devices before entering Federal Inspection Services areas.
While Global Entry aims to expedite travel processes, members may still undergo further examination upon entering the U.S., and violations can lead to enforcement actions and termination of membership privileges.
CBP describes itself as America's frontline law enforcement organization with over 65,000 personnel working across land, air, and sea borders to ensure safe travel and trade while enhancing national security through collaboration and innovation.
