David C. Weiss, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware

Michael Natale, a resident of Laurel, Delaware, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. The sentence was handed down by Chief Judge Colm F. Connolly in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

In October 2024, Natale pleaded guilty to the charges following an investigation that stemmed from his online activities on the instant messaging platform Kik. Natale and another individual exchanged graphic videos depicting child sexual abuse, including material involving the other individual's young son. This led to the arrest of that individual and ultimately identified Natale as well.

The ten-year sentence is a mandatory minimum due to Natale's prior conviction in Delaware for dealing in child pornography.

Acting U.S. Attorney Shannon T. Hanson emphasized the office's commitment to protecting children: “Our office has always been dedicated to the protection of Delaware’s most vulnerable community members, the children." She also commended the FBI's efforts: "I commend the FBI’s dedication and collaboration across districts in bringing this case, and that of Mr. Natale’s co-conspirator, to justice.”

FBI Baltimore Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno highlighted the threat posed by individuals like Natale: “Natale posed a significant threat to children as demonstrated by his repeated perverse and sick exploitation."

The case was investigated by the FBI with Assistant U.S. Attorney Briana Knox prosecuting.
