U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry have apprehended a 17-year-old male U.S. citizen wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for possession of obscene material/child pornography. The arrest took place during a secondary inspection at the Del Rio International Bridge.

Port Director Liliana Flores stated, "Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain strict vigilance while conducting primary examinations and discovered a traveler with a significant outstanding warrant involving possession of child pornographic material." She added that such apprehensions underscore the commitment to keeping border communities safe.

The young man was identified using biometric verification and federal law enforcement databases, revealing the outstanding warrant issued by the Val Verde Sheriff’s Office in Del Rio, Texas. Following his identification, he was transported by the Del Rio Police Department to the Val Verde Correctional Facility for adjudication.

The National Crime Information Center (NCIC), an automated database for sharing information among law enforcement agencies, played a role in this case. The database includes information on outstanding warrants for various offenses. Previous arrests made based on NCIC data include those wanted for homicide, money laundering, and other serious crimes.

CBP emphasized that criminal charges are allegations and that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
