At the National Farmers Union's 123rd Anniversary Convention, KC Sheperd of Radio Oklahoma Ag Network was honored with the 2025 Milt Hakel Award for Excellence in Agricultural Journalism. Sheperd serves as the Farm Director for the network, delivering agriculture updates, market news, and farm-related stories to listeners across Oklahoma.
Sheperd frequently collaborates with and reports on events organized by the Oklahoma Farmers Union (OFU), ensuring that critical issues affecting OFU members and the broader agricultural sector reach a wider audience.
"KC has dedicated her on-air career to informing Oklahoma residents about important issues that impact their livelihoods, and it’s an honor to present her with this award," stated NFU President Rob Larew. He emphasized the role of radio networks in rural areas as vital communication channels for farming communities. "Radio networks in these rural areas serve as a lifeline for our farming and ranching communities and KC brings the issues dominating the agricultural sphere to the fields and homes of Oklahoma farmers and ranchers."
