Missouri man sentenced to 14 years for possessing child pornography

U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark has sentenced Charles R. Hamilton, a registered sex offender from Chesterfield, to 14 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. The sentencing took place on Tuesday.

Hamilton, aged 66, was found with 1,288 image files and 185 video files of child sexual abuse material on his phone. In May 2023, Alabama law enforcement identified a Kik social media account used to distribute such material and traced it back to Hamilton. When interviewed by investigators on May 25, 2023, Hamilton allowed a search of his phone which revealed images matching those distributed via the Kik account. A forensic examination showed that he had used Kik, Instagram, and Telegram accounts for receiving and transmitting child pornography.

In August, Hamilton pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI along with the St. Louis County Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Hayes is prosecuting the case.
