Marquitta Holloman, a 36-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault while armed. The plea is connected to a stabbing incident that took place on September 13, 2023, in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, S.E. This development was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Holloman entered her guilty plea on March 11, 2025, before Judge Michael Ryan, who set the sentencing date for May 13, 2025.
The government presented evidence showing that around 11:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, Holloman engaged in a verbal argument with the victim at the location mentioned above. Afterward, as the victim moved towards her daughter nearby, Holloman attacked with a knife. In this assault, she stabbed both the victim's daughter in the neck and then proceeded to stab the victim multiple times in her face and head. Both were taken to local hospitals for their injuries; notably, the victim had severe damage to her right eye necessitating surgical removal.
Surveillance footage from Savoy Elementary School aided MPD officers and detectives in identifying Holloman as responsible for the attack. She was subsequently arrested on January 8, 2024.
In acknowledging Holloman's plea agreement, U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith praised those involved in investigating this case within MPD and recognized Assistant United States Attorney Ella Gladman for her role in investigating and prosecuting it.
