NVIDIA has announced significant advancements in its RTX neural rendering technologies ahead of the Game Developers Conference. The company is collaborating with Microsoft to introduce neural shading support to the Microsoft DirectX preview in April. This development will allow game developers to utilize AI Tensor Cores in NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs, enhancing neural networks within a game's graphics pipeline.

Neural shading is expected to transform graphics programming by integrating AI with traditional rendering methods. This innovation aims to improve frame rates, enhance image quality, and reduce system resource usage. Shawn Hargreaves, Direct3D development manager at Microsoft, stated, "Microsoft is adding cooperative vector support to DirectX and HLSL, starting with a preview this April. This will advance the future of graphics programming by enabling neural rendering across the gaming industry."

In addition to these developments, NVIDIA's RTX Kit for game developers is receiving updates that include Unreal Engine 5 support for features like RTX Mega Geometry and RTX Hair. The NVIDIA RTX Remix open-source platform was also officially released today, allowing modders to create enhanced versions of classic games.

A new playable demo of Half-Life 2RTX showcasing recent advancements in neural rendering will be available on March 18. It includes full ray tracing and other enhancements such as NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and RTX Neural Radiance Cache.

NVIDIA is celebrating a milestone with over 100 DLSS 4 games and applications now available. The introduction of DLSS 4 has been met with enthusiasm from gamers and developers alike due to its ability to significantly increase frame rates.

RTX Mega Geometry and RTX Hair are among the notable advancements being integrated into Unreal Engine 5 through NVIDIA's NvRTX branch. These technologies aim to accelerate ray tracing for complex scenes and improve image quality when rendering realistic digital humans.

The official release of RTX Remix allows modders to deliver high-quality remasters using advanced ray-tracing techniques. Since its beta release last year, over 30,000 modders have utilized the platform for various projects.

The Half-Life 2 RTX demo offers players an opportunity to experience enhanced environments through collaborative efforts by top mod teams under Orbifold Studios' banner.

DLSS 4 technology debuted alongside GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and has rapidly gained adoption in more than 100 games and apps. Its Multi Frame Generation feature leverages AI capabilities to boost performance on GeForce RTX hardware significantly.

Several upcoming titles such as Lost Soul Aside, Mecha BREAK, Phantom Blade Zero, Stellar Blade, Tides of Annihilation, and Wild Assault will launch with DLSS 4 support providing optimized experiences for GeForce RTX users.
