Matthew R. Molsen United States Attorney for the District of Nebraska | U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska
Oliva Gross, 47, from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to two years of probation for the wrongful disclosure of health information. This decision was announced by Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen and handed down in federal court by Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., on March 14, 2025.
In a related case, Kiara Gross, 24, also from Omaha and a co-defendant in this matter, received an identical sentence of two years' probation on March 7 for similar charges. It is important to note that there is no parole available within the federal system.
Both individuals were employed at Mid-City OB-GYN in Omaha—a healthcare provider offering obstetrics and gynecology services—where they worked as medical assistants. During their employment at Mid-City OB-GYN, they were subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which restricts access to and use of patients' individually identifiable health information without authorization.
The violations occurred when Kiara Gross and Oliva Gross accessed confidential medical information pertaining to Victim 1 without permission while working at Mid-City OB-GYN on December 11, 2023. Victim 1 had last visited the facility for medical treatment in July of that year.
The investigation into these offenses was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
