ENRIQUE TORRES-BEIZA, also known as "Enrique B. Torres," a 39-year-old native of Mexico, has been indicted for re-entering the United States after being deported. The indictment was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson on March 13, 2025.
The indictment states that Torres-Beiza was found in the Eastern District of Louisiana on or about October 26, 2024, despite having been officially deported from the United States on December 26, 2018.
If convicted of re-entry as a removed alien under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), Torres-Beiza could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he may receive up to one year of supervised release and be required to pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). It utilizes resources from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and does not imply guilt; the defendant's guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Simpson acknowledged the efforts of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, will handle the prosecution.
