U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with several law enforcement agencies, recently concluded a targeted enforcement operation in Charlotte, North Carolina. The operation, which took place from March 1 to March 8, resulted in the arrest of 24 individuals identified as illegal aliens.

The apprehended individuals face various charges including 13 aggravated felonies or other violent offenses, three illegal firearms or weapons offenses, two cases of MS-13 gang affiliation, one assault on a federal officer, five property crimes, and 11 charges related to driving while intoxicated (DWI).

ICE reported that six of those arrested had active immigration detainers which were not honored by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Sheriff's Office. Additionally, there are still 18 targeted individuals at large who also had unhonored detainers. ICE expressed concern over these individuals remaining at large as they could pose a potential threat to community safety.

ICE emphasized its commitment to "smart, effective immigration enforcement" aimed at protecting U.S. communities and upholding immigration laws. Entering the United States without authorization is against federal law and may lead to administrative arrest or criminal prosecution.

The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or using the online tip form provided by ICE.
