A Dominican national, Odanis Manuel Brea Mejia, has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland to the charge of illegally entering the United States after a prior removal. This development follows his arrest for drug trafficking during a search warrant operation in Lewiston in January 2025.

Court records reveal that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) supported the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) during the execution of the search warrant, which led to Brea Mejia's arrest. A background check indicated that he had been deported from the U.S. in October 2021 and had not received permission to return.

Following his arrest, HSI alerted U.S. Customs and Border Protection, resulting in Brea Mejia being transported by a Border Patrol agent to the Rangeley Border Patrol Station.

Brea Mejia is now facing a potential maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000. His sentencing will occur post-completion of a presentence investigative report by the U.S. Probation Office. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider various statutory factors and guidelines.

The investigation was conducted by HSI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection with assistance from MDEA.
