Christopher E. Galvin, a 58-year-old resident of Scottsdale, was found guilty by a federal jury on one count of wire fraud. The verdict followed a three-day trial presided over by United States District Judge Susan M. Brnovich. Galvin is scheduled for sentencing on May 30, 2025.

In April 2019, Galvin established Hypur Ventures II and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer. He misled an investor by claiming that their funds would be invested in cannabis industry businesses through Hypur Ventures II. Consequently, the victim transferred $100,000 to Arizona for this investment. Contrary to his claims, Galvin used the money for personal legal expenses and other purposes without investing it as promised or returning any funds to the victim.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Phoenix Division. The prosecution was managed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lindsay Short and Bruce Van Baren from the District of Arizona in Phoenix.
