Maxie Darryl Caston, a 58-year-old resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Caston entered a guilty plea to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to the indictment, on September 6, 2024, Caston was found in possession of several firearms and ammunition despite having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. The firearms included a .22 caliber revolver, a .20 gauge break-open shotgun, a .243 Winchester caliber bolt-action rifle, two .22 caliber semi-automatic rifles, and a .22 caliber lever-action rifle. He also possessed various rounds of ammunition.
The charges were the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Caston's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. Until sentencing is complete, Caston will remain in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service.
