A Davenport man, Dontae Lamonte Burrage, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on March 18, 2025. The sentence was given for possessing a firearm as a felon and being classified as an Armed Career Criminal.
Court documents revealed that Burrage, aged 36, had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. On February 26, 2022, members of a bail bond company attempted to arrest him. During the incident, Burrage fled and discarded a loaded pistol. He has six prior state felony drug convictions which prohibit him from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law. As an Armed Career Criminal, he faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years.
Following his imprisonment term, Burrage will serve a five-year supervised release period. The federal system does not offer parole.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing. The Davenport Police Department conducted the investigation.
