A Chester County resident, Aniruth Kuppusamy, has been indicted on charges related to child pornography offenses. United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Kuppusamy, aged 25 of Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania, faces indictments including manufacturing, receiving, and possessing child pornography, along with the use of interstate commerce facilities to entice a minor into engaging in explicit conduct.
Court documents allege that Kuppusamy, currently in custody since last month, engaged in inappropriate conversations with Minor #1, whom he knew to be under 18 years old. He purportedly obtained explicit videos from the minor.
The indictment further accuses Kuppusamy of receiving these explicit depictions and possessing prohibited images on an iPhone 15. The device reportedly played a role in interstate and foreign commerce.
Additionally, allegations include using internet and cellular services to coerce the minor into sexual activities, related to the manufacture and receipt of child pornography. Conviction could lead to a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison, with a possible life sentence.
This prosecution occurs under the Project Safe Childhood initiative, an effort spearheaded by the Department of Justice to tackle child exploitation. Since May 2006, it has aimed to enhance the capture and prosecution of those exploiting children online. The case underwent investigation by the FBI and is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Danielle Bateman.
The announcement stresses that charges are accusations. Kuppusamy remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
