Ryan “Junior” Guzman, a 40-year-old resident of Honolulu, was sentenced to 170 months in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution. The sentence was delivered by Chief U.S. District Judge Derrick K. Watson following Guzman's guilty plea. He admitted to distributing one pound of methamphetamine on March 13, 2023, at the Magic Island parking lot in Honolulu. Additionally, Guzman acknowledged possessing a "ghost gun" loaded with 15 hollow-point rounds in June 2024, which was associated with his drug trafficking activities.

The investigation into Guzman's criminal activities involved the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Honolulu Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne A. Myers.

This sentencing is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which aims to reduce gun violence and other violent crimes by integrating law enforcement and community efforts. The program, which has been strengthened following a strategy launch on May 26, 2021, focuses on building community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, establishing enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
