FCI Allenwood inmate sentenced to prison for possession of a weapon

Anthony Evans, a 28-year-old inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution Allenwood in Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for weapons possession. This announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Evans was found in possession of a homemade weapon known as a “shank” on July 15, 2024, during an inspection by a correctional officer. The weapon, crafted from a piece of metal with a cloth handle, measured six inches.

Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann handed down the sentence following the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Tatum Wilson.
